Free Online Modules from Top Universities
The University of Michigan offers Utilization of Nursing Research in Advanced Practice with course topics including advanced nursing theory, research process and organizational dynamics. Open University introduced the Care Relationships Analysis wherein nursing students can obtain an understanding of people’s roles in care relations. The University of Massachusetts at Boston has two free classes online. One is the Professional Issues in nursing which is an intermediate nursing seminar for registered nurses. The objective of the course is to teach critical reading and writing proficiency. The other is Nursing Health Assessment and Promotion which delves into the health assessment and processes in the nursing field and how these are connected with early detection and diseases prevention.
Other Free Online Programs
The American Nurses Foundation has come up with a free online nursing program called Psychiatric Emergencies in Medical Surgery patients. The goal of this program is to help nurses acquire expertise in identifying and coping with psychiatric emergencies. Nurses will be taught to distinguish patients with probable psychiatric issues. Possible signs and symptoms will also be identified together with relevant action program to handle said patients. Nurses, who are able to complete this free online nursing module, will be granted 1.7 contact hours. Infant Formulas is another free continuing nursing online program available from PowerPak.com. This is aimed at helping nurses and other medical professionals in assisting their patients especially with the selections and usage of commercial infant formulas. Nurses who finish this course are awarded 1.4 contact hours. It is provided by the Postgraduate Institute for Medicine. There are plenty of other free courses available on the entity’s website plus some courses for various professions. Each course has a list of objectives, accreditation statement, procedures and other applicable information. The third free online course is referred to as Antibiotic Resistance. This is an infectious disease and control nursing continuing education course. It educates nurses about bacteria which is resistant to antibiotics. Students are given pointers in avoiding the spread of such resistance and know the reasons for the resistance to antibiotics. The demographic information of nurses who take this course is recorded and given to the course sponsor. This is the University of California at Los Angeles Health System.
